Hamilton is Home

The Coalition Behind
Hamilton's Housing Future

Eight nonprofit housing providers. One shared mission. Building 5,000 affordable homes for Hamilton by 2030.

Tackling the biggest social challenge of our time — together.

Hamilton is Home is striving to be Hamilton's answer to the housing crisis. We believe the biggest social challenge of our time requires urgent, large-scale, long-term solutions, innovative approaches, and a focused, collaborative effort across multiple sectors of society.

Hamilton is Home is a coalition of the city's eight largest nonprofit housing providers, working together to transform the housing landscape in Hamilton. Our member organizations have deep roots in the community and a combined portfolio of more than 11,000 housing units, spanning all forms of non-market and affordable housing.

Our Vision

A Hamilton where everyone has a secure, dignified home, rooted in equity and justice.

Our Mission

The Hamilton is Home Coalition unites housing providers and community partners to pursue land, funding, planning, advocacy, and policy solutions to create 5,000 affordable homes by 2030.

A Few Ways We Drive Change

Our coalition pursues housing solutions through collaboration, advocacy, and shared insight.

Collaboration Over Competition

We create a foundation of trust and collaboration across our sector, evolving from a culture of scarcity and competition toward a position of strength and growth — for every member organization, and for Hamilton.

A Unified Voice for Housing

We act as one voice to the public and all levels of government — raising awareness and urgency around housing affordability, and pushing for policies and funding levels that create truly transformative housing solutions.

Shared Insight, Faster Outcomes

We surface and voice shared insights from our members to help government shape more effective, efficient processes and frameworks — moving developments from conception to completion faster.

Founded

Hamilton is Home was formed in 2020 with the goal of eliminating the city's social housing waitlist. As a coalition of community housing providers with a combined portfolio of more than 11,000 housing units and hundreds of years of combined management experience spanning all forms of non-market and affordable housing, we possess the deep experience, clarity of purpose, and ambitious vision to rapidly accelerate the development of quality, affordable housing in our city.

Hamilton is Home is proud of our strong working relationship with the City of Hamilton. We invite further cooperation and investment from our federal and provincial government funders to realize our goal of attainable, quality housing for all Hamilton residents.

Leadership

The people driving the coalition's mission forward every day.

Hamilton is Home excites me because of this innovative idea to come together to realize the same common goal. One Hamilton voice doesn't have as much of an impact as these big organizations all saying the same thing at the same time: Hamilton needs to build much more affordable housing, now.
