Together, our eight member organizations represent thousands of homes and hundreds of years of combined experience in Hamilton's nonprofit housing sector.

Coalition Member

City Housing Hamilton

City Housing Hamilton is a municipal corporation that is the largest provider of social housing in
the city, serving more than 13,000 households, including single adults, families and seniors.
Most housing is available on a rent-geared-to-income (RGI) basis, as well as some housing
units provided at market rent. City Housing Hamilton works to enhance the quality of life for
tenants by providing safe and affordable housing, while ensuring there are additional programs
and supports through various partnerships with community agencies.

Good Shepherd Non-Profit Homes

Good Shepherd is a Catholic charity committed to supporting vulnerable members of the community, with properties in Hamilton and Toronto. It is one of the largest health and human services providers in Hamilton, offering a wide range of services for different demographic groups and through people's life cycles, from hot meals to educational programs to hospice care. It is one of the largest community mental healthcare providers in Ontario. Good Shepherd's housing portfolio focuses on affordable housing with support services, ranging from emergency shelter to transitional housing to permanent supportive housing. The organization owns and manages 1,000+ units in Hamilton.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Hamilton is an independent, not-for-profit charity that builds affordable
housing and promotes homeownership. Habitat Hamilton mobilizes local volunteers, community
members and corporate partners, bringing people together to build homes, communities, and
hope. Habitat Hamilton’s Home Build Program, implements an on-going development model
through which the organization builds homes and provides interest-free and geared-to-income
mortgages to people who would not be able to secure a conventional mortgage. Supported by
hundreds of volunteers, Habitat Hamilton has accommodated 35 Habitat homeowners locally,
since its incorporation, and is one of Habitat Canada’s fastest growing affiliates, with several
builds and developments currently underway.

Kiwanis Homes

Kiwanis Homes provides safe, sustainable housing communities for families in Hamilton and Brantford. The organization's portfolio includes affordable and market rate rentals, as well as affordable homeownership opportunities.

Indwell

Indwell is a Christian charity that whose mission is to provide hope and homes for all. Indwell builds affordable housing communities that support people seeking health, wellness, and belonging. Indwell is the fastest growing developer of new supportive affordable housing in Ontario. Indwell's communities support over 1,300 tenants in regions across Southern and Southwestern Ontario—with several projects currently under construction or pre-development.

Sacajawea Non-Profit Housing

Sacajawea Non-Profit Housing's mission is to provide affordable, culturally relevant housing for First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples and families in Hamilton. The organization's current portfolio includes 64 homes for families and individuals, with supportive services provided to residents, including access to traditional cultural knowledge and practices. Sacajawea's mission goes beyond providing shelter, to creating spaces where Indigenous people can thrive, feel connected to their culture, and support one another as a community.

Victoria Park Community Homes

Victoria Park Community Homes is one of Ontario's oldest and largest non-profit housing providers, with a portfolio of more than 3,100 apartments, townhouses, and single-family homes, owned and managed throughout Southern Ontario. The organization offers a mix of geared-to-income affordable rentals and market rentals to low- and moderate-income households.

YWCA Hamilton

YWCA Hamilton provides a range of services to realize its vision of a more equitable world where cis and trans women and girls, Two-Spirit, and gender diverse people are able to shape their own lives and lead their communities. YWCA Hamilton offers emergency, transitional, and permanent social housing with supportive services for women and non-binary individuals and their families. The organization focuses on people who have experienced homelessness, need temporary housing, or are fleeing violent situations.
